    Question Dog Vest Experts

I'm using the Avery boat parka for my dog and I have a very difficult time getting it zipped. It's probably easy for some people but I'm trying to do it from a sitting position due to necessity.

Has anybody noticed that any particular brand/model goes on the dog easier than others?

I think Cabelas makes/sells one (cabelas brand) that just uses Velcro. But I have no experience with it as I bought the Avery you mentioned.

I've found most dog vest to be a two man job. I did go out myself the other day and found it easier to put the vest on before I left home. It was warm and light in the house which made it much easier than fumbling around in a cold, wet, dark duck blind.

This is my goal. One less thing since I have a million other things to deal with. I just can't believe I can't do it myself since I have great hand strength and my dog is very good about staying still.

My dog always stands on all 4 feet when I put it on, I would imagine it would be much more difficult to zip with him sitting down.

I lay the vest on the ground, call her up to it, pick up her front legs and put them in the vest holes and then pull the vest up around her at home before I put her in the kennel. I have the Cabelas Velcro vest.

The only vest that I'll use anymore, is the 5mm Cabelas Deluxe, with the Armor-flex chest guard.

Zippers and handles don't belong on dog vests.
A two inch wide strip of Velcro, is perfect.

And that Armor-flex is really tough stuff.

I forgot to mention that male dogs will need a V cut out, in order to relieve themselves on the outside of the Cabelas vest.
