    Default Nelson Mandela

Surprised not to see any comment yet on Mandela's death. The media & social media has been filled with it.

I've seen conflicting opinions, as at one time in his political career Mandela did condone terrorist actions.

I came across this quote of Mandela:
‘Lead from the back – and let others believe they are in front’

Now one knows where Obama came up with that.

Did you really mean to draw a parallel between Nelson Mandela and Barrack Obama?
I am the loathed progessive, liberal and I would not stretch that far.
Politicizing the the death of Mandela to further your dislike of Obama is contempuous.

I am at a loss as to why Mandela's passing is a big deal here. I doubt seriously that Mandela was a fan of America.

ABC devoted their entire Thur night prime time news slot to his death. Then their late night news was also entirely about his death
He may have been a great figure, but he wasn't an American, and at 95 his death was hardly unexpected.

We've got wars going on. major ice storms, economic issues etc etc etc and they focus their entire news time on the death of a 95 yo from halfway across the world who had very little contact or effect on America
The news media is a real joke

I was initially surprised at the coverage Mandela's death got. But, it is typical of almost all of our media. They decide what we need to know. They think they know what we need to know.

have to agree with you on all points there...The media is really falling all over themselves to make him seem larger than life and it seems that every black athlete has to chime in on his legacy when in reality most dont even know all the facts in his life..I was also disappointed when BHO ordered the flags flown at half staff, WTH

The flags at half staff for Mandela, sad, and basically not even acknowledge Margaret Thatcher's death.

In his own words on Arafat, Castro and Gaddafi. Really starts around the 20 minute mark of the first clip. However, the second one is summary of the first with few additional interview questions.

The clapping seals took all his statements as gospel as so many do today with our government.
