the official family statement
We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.
Like water off a ducks back regards, JD

I am betting that most people don’t really care what A&E or any of its reality stars do. This is just another topic that the right wing entertainment complex is using to rile up the base. All this talk of infringing on freedom of speech and political correctness is complete BS.
It looks to me that A&E made a market-based decision. They own the rights to the show and the brand. If a character on any of their reality show takes actions that they think will damage the brand they can suspend that person and I bet it is in his contract. Wouldn’t it be just terrible if sales of all the cheap Chinese-made trinkets and T-shirts being sold under the brand dropped?
Yep, the base sure is riled up…mission accomplished… you all better go sign the petition… http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=844357
I'm thinkin the Robertson’s are at about 14 minutes and 30 seconds into their 15??
Maybe CMT or some religious channel channel will buy the brand?
Where is the outrage about this show and its inconsistencies with the bible http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?ne...cid=rr-tv-news

It was all over the news after the election last year. You must have missed it watching your favorite channel and listening to your favorite radio shows. Surprising, isn't it?

I would imagine he was talking about such talk-show hosts as Hannity, Rush, etc. When asked to name names, Frum would say only to check in his book and that there are, really, “too many to name.” Right now, he continued, the leaders in the party have no space to operate.
However, it would seem that "the leaders of the party" hadn't been doing such a great job anyhow, and this was as good an excuse as any.

Just as Chic Filet fired up and grew their base, Phil Robertson will become even more of a Riligious Right icon. Status he wouldn't have achieved keeping his mouth shut. I expect viewers of DD to be more supportive when they are surveyed by the TV ratings service, Neilson. Results should be increased ratings which equals increased revenue for the network.
One nice aspect of being wealthy is you don't have to cow-down to large corporations like A&E. A&E is owned by Disney, which is owned by ABC. ABC has a multitude of networks like ESPN. That's a whole other topic worth discussion. DD's revenue is chump change compared to the entire holdings.
A&E won't let the Robertson's walk with the DD name. They could get out of thier contract with A & E and that could take years. My guess is that if the negotiations with the Robertson's gets too difficult they just scrap the show and the Robertson's won't be legally allowed to do a similar show on another network. I'm sure the network owns the intellectual rights to the show's concept. Afterall, they been around the block a few times with talent and the attorneys that prepared the contracts cover just about every senario.
Production of Season 4 is done and Phil is in it. With the controversy, it should be the highest rated season, ever.
My guess is that the network and Robertson's will agree on a solution when the controversy subsides. In the meantime, for the DD fans, enjoy Season 4.
