I have personally lived in Texas all of my life (54 yrs), and I can tell you all that I, for 20+ years of the 54, have introduced my pups to water in one of my buddy's neighborhood "lakes"(50acres). As the pups progress, I do my swim-bys in another friend's "swim-by pond" in Pinehurst,TX. I then use a couple of "technical ponds" in Navasota,TX once we start running setups/tests.
Now, there are a couple of "stock tanks" on another buddy's ranch in Goldthwaite,TX that I use to jump ducks, hunt deer, and/or fish. If I really want a larger body of water to fish, I usually fish one of the 3 "lakes" on the ranch. If I decide to head up to the northeast corner of the state to hang out with my brother-in-law in Sulpher Springs,TX we may hunt or fish one of his buddy's "pools" that they use to irrigate crops.
It's all relative-LOL!!!
