    Default CNM Testing UC Davis

I tried the search function but did not see anything

Has anyone used UC Davis for your CNM testing? I like the idea of not shipping stuff overseas. I assume that OFA will honor UC Davis' results, does anyone have experience with this?

For OFA you need to use one of the approved labs listed on their website.

    Look at
    http://www.offa.org/dna_labs.html

    and

I am sort of interested in getting my dog done. Are there many of us around? Maybe we could organize a clinic.

    Thanks Renee,

I have 2 dogs that I need to get all the testing on. I would be interested in a clinic.

I saw that UCD does that, too. Will use them for my next one who needs. Also DDC is in USA,too, they had a real quick turnaround for a dog I just requested be tested. She had his results in a week or less.

I see UC Davis listed on OFA for some of the tests, but not for the CNM one. Is this so new that OFA has not yet updated their website?

I will look into it---I have put some feelers out.

I am clueless about logistics so if anyone else reading this thread has organized group rates/clinics for the DNA tests please let me know.

I would like to have a dog first aid seminar. I know there was one around here in the past but before my time.

OFA typically only "honors" tests done at the lab that the test originated from. Just because OFA won't post it on their website doesn't mean you cannot use that lab. You just must be organized and keep your test certificates and be willing to show anyone interested on your dog. PawPrint Genetics is a newer company based in the US. They test for EIC, CNM, PRA-prcd and are developing the test for RD/OSD currently. They have tests for less common diseases for Labs and tests for several other breeds as well. They send you a test kit and a postage paid return envelope. I know a few people who have used them and they were happy with the service. Prices start at $80 for any single test, and go down incrementally with each additional test ordered. They often have discounts available on their Facebook page also. It's something to consider at least. And the reason they can do these tests when other labs have had to discontinue, is they are not using the same patented processes which caused the other labs to be forced to quit testing.

I guess I don't understand, especially when we know that some of the nonaccredited places have given flawed results time and time again. It's not hard at all to send cheek swabs to Alfort. They have fantastic QC and developed the tests. There ARE sensitive steps in the process. And they only charge, what... $60 or so? And mailing the swabs may be a whopping $5 or less, cant remember, but it's not significant. I had my results back in 2.5 wks too.

I have to agree with windycanyon. After hearing of flawed test results and knowing how great Alfort is to work with, I personally will only use Alfort for testing for CNM.
