Default Trapped at walking fetch GDG

With the New England weather being even more erratic than usual, I am trapped at walking fetch stage of training. I had just started this with my young dog 2 weeks ago and then came the seemingly endless rounds of snow, ice, subzero cold, rain, repeat. I can't use my yard due to ice all over. Driveway is covered in snow so dog can't see white bumpers. Nearby parking lots are still ice and snow covered and I also worry about chipping teeth when they dive for the bumpers. Currently we are experiencing the third torrential rain storm in the past 2 weeks. After dropping 2 inches on Monday the temps dropped to 3 degrees overnight and froze everything. Forecasting another 2-3 inches today. I am hoping winter will decide to go with one form of precipitation soon so we can finish up and move on.

It's going to be ugly in Gillette Stadium tonight. Torrential rains and gusting winds. Hopefully the temps won't drop tonight after all this rain. I had to chisel the bottom of the garage doors Tuesday to get out as they had frozen to the concrete.

    Hope your weather improves too.

Hi Dawn, This weather up here has been brutal! I had Ella for the month of December and only trained a handful of days! She made it back to Lois' and now in GA for the winter! Good luck with the pup!!!!

I sort of understand, but we are so use to winter weather it's hard for me to use it as an excuse not to train.
Dawn, We use black and white, dirty canvas tan and dead birds on that white background. Plowed yards and parking areas that have been graveled are what I look for outside in the winter.
I do train indoors and do run walking fetch inside when the weather is crap. I have a shop that is about 36 running feet of usable space. Ain't the best but better than nothing. Good luck. Don

I have rented a nearby obedience ring to do some yard work, but can only get over there once a week. I just need a few more sessions with this. At least we have been able to get some good goose hunting in. The worse the weather, the better they decoy. It gives the dogs marks and "flyers". We just had a wicked thunderstorm and now raining very hard. This should clear the snow off the driveway at least.

Wish I could join you Patti. The ice is the real problem. At least we can do marks and some drills on snow but the sheets of ice and now water covered sheets of ice are so dangerous. At least the driveway finally melted off so I can finish walking fetch this week.
