    So very sorry you had to say good bye to Duke today. Even when it is the right thing, it is never the easy thing to do. But you gave him the greatest gift by letting him go when the time was right.

    A day like today leaves a hole in your heart as you leave the vet office and go home. But Duke is still with you in your memories and heart. Bringing the memories out and sharing them often will help fill the hole and bring smiles to replace the tears. Condolences on your loss.
    When it stops being fun, I will find something else to do with my time and money.

    It's so, so hard. You're left with that punched in the gut feeling. As others have said, it's what we sign up for and you did the right thing not letting him suffer. My guy is only 8 1/2, but I can't imagine life without him.

    Duke wouldn't want to be the cause of any grief, so think of all the good times and know he is doing the same.

    I just put my very first bird dog down last Thursday-12 great years followed up with liver failure. A very hard and emotional day-sorry for your loss

    Damn...Very sorry...it does my heart good to hear that Duke's personally was there even though he did not know....Try and enjoy that moment before....RIP duke....
