    Default Labrador Breed Standard

"Labrador Retrievers shall be shown in working condition, well muscled and without excess fat"

Is this a requirement or suggestion ?

The standard, as written, is fine. It's the judging that is not. The standard is ignored, and there is zero accountability.

The breed standard as it applies to Labrador Retrievers is sort of like calling a fat kid husky. Eye of the beholder regards.

Its called substance. Chris Wincek at Kerrybrook referred to it as "substance abuse" about the best description I've heard.
Discipline is no excuse for a lack of enthusiasm !!

I'm guessing that went out the window about the time they decided a Labrador should look like an overweight Rottweiler.
