    Default What say you RK?

Very interesting article, read it all before reacting. I am not a "union" sympathizer as I believe most of them are just as crooked as all politics, but the point is, we do not have to starve our own to keep up with the Chinese in this global economy.

*"I also wondered, as I watched Dettinger run off to solve yet another problem on the line, if Harley would have been able to turn it around without experienced union workers."

I would say yes, and before you jump on me for being anti-union, please read (and comprehend) the rest of this post:

Not RK, but here's my perspective (and it isn't limited to union workers). People who take pride in what they do will strive to do the best job that they are able. The workers at that plant cared about the Harley brand. It was their identity.

Do you think the average worker at Whirlpool, RainBird, Kiddie, etc. feels the same pride? I'm sure there are some, but I doubt the number who do is anywhere near as high as it was/is at Harley Davidson.

So, yes, IF the workers took pride in the product produced, union or not, they could have turned the plant around in much the same way. To say it only happened because they were unionized is disingenuous.

    RK's silence is deafening
Carol I'm afraid your juxtaposition of Harley and the Unions may have caused his brain to short circuit.
Since he seemingly only thinks and writes in sound bites he may not be able to read and respond

So what's your point, mjh345 other than attacking RK? Is it that at one time HD had horrible production, or they got rid of 1,000 workers and froze wages, or they came to an agreement with the machinist union and now have a very profitable company? Just askin..........
