    Default Thunder Launcher Question

If you use a Thunder Launcher in training
I would like to know what type of electronics
you are using - Tri Tronics or Dogtra?
I have two 500's and they are great for training my
dogs and love using them. Just curious about
what electronics most use? Thanks in advance.

I have 4 500`s and 2 of the old etch mark 4 shooters....been using TT .A couple issues with tt are ,receivers get wet and don`t operate (put a plastic bag over them)and range (get a plastic step in electric fence post and mount receiver on them. I like the TT transmitters better than dogtra. Jim

Last year I bought two 500's and the Dogtra electronics. Dogtra electronics were recommended by other trainers. I am satisfied.

I use dogtra electronics on my 500, GU wingers and box launchers and they work great for all.

I use TT for everything. On the thunder, if you put it on the launcher it can limit its ability at long range. I put a velcro strip on my Malcolm for when I am using it as a retired (I love the thunder for retireds since it hides behind my little blind well). On stand out marks, I use my Lou Magee stick men, which have a velcro strip on the top. You can also easily loop a flex tie through the hole and put it on top of about any stick man.

I use TT for my 500. I think the limitation on range comes from it being mounted kind of low on the 500. The cord on my 500 was too short for me to mount it high on a stickman so I picked up an extension from a Radio Shack that allows the receiver to be mounted higher up on a stickman. This increases my range quite a bit.

We early on had a Max 5000. It was awful and we had two repairs costing more than $200 a time. Then we got a Thunder and have still had major issues and just sort of gave up on it. Lots of $$$ and no happiness with either product.
