Yeah, we southerners got it all wrong- especially in Texas. No state income tax. Comparatively little snow and we don't have a model city like Detroit- heck we don't even have a rust belt. I have faith though that at some point enough Yankees will abandon the paradise they have in the north, move down here and try to fix everything for us.

Kids get paid to shovel snow?!
I grew up in the county. We shoveled our side walks and our neighbors sidewalks OR ELSE.
Never did need to find out what the or else was, we just knew we didn't want to go there.

Last summer I thought the same thing, I was coming home and drove through the neighborhood and noticed dozens of adults (parents) working in the yards. They were on lawn mowers, weeding, planting, working in flower beds and on an on.

NOT ONE SINGLE KID WORKING IN A YARD. I saw many out playing but none working.

When I had kids at the house they had chores and if they wanted money they mowed yards and such. When I was a kid I did the same. So in just a generation have we lost the ability to teach our children a work ethic?
