Registration name ideas?
I've been lurking around soaking up as much information as possible re: training, puppies and everything else that comes along with them and i'm to the point of deciding on her registered name. Her name is Kiowa (like the helicopter). She's a 4 month old female chocolate from Hunters Point Kennel. Here's a halfway decent picture of her riding shotgun. Thanks in advance for the help guys!
She is cute!!! I am not good on names!

very nice looking pup. Isn't Kiowa a scout helicopter?
Personally, I like to (I am sure just the same as many others here) follow the line of the dog when choosing a name. My father did it, and I have decided to do it as well. If your pup comes from a good line, I take the name of either the Sire or Bitch and incorporate it into my pup's name.
ie in my case the Grand Sire and Sire ... Barracuda Blue, sire to Barracuda Blue Ryder, sire to my dog Barracuda Blue Ryders GUSTO call name Gus.
BTW...Choco's have it harder but do it BETTER....good choice!!!!!
about 2.5 yrs ago, only pic on the work PC...he is a 90 lb slab of granite now!!!!
I believe so.

Edit: And "HPK" for Hunters Point Kennel will be at the beginning of her name.

I watched a YouTube video on this the other day and it was the coolest video I've seen in a while, so it's stuck in my head…It was on fighter jets and helo low pass fly by's...
HPK's Low Pass Fly By "Kiowa"
debart...those are all good, most of us have a 'call' name for our dogs, preferable one syllable. And that syllable cannot sound like any command we use or other dog we own....I think you are OK with Kiowa as far as not sounding like a command, but it is two syllables. That being said when you send her on a retrieve you will say 'Kiowa' she will be gone on 'Ki'. If it were me I would include Kiowa in her registration name and then train her with 'Ki' short for Kiowa....
I too incorporate parents names and kennel in our registered names....e.g.
Registered name - Sugar River Yukon's Golden Fox...............Fathers name Choctaw's Yukon Copper Penny Mothers name Topbrass Foxy Roxy of Sugar River
I actually do call her Ki. I really only use Kiowa when I am telling her no or if she is causing a ruckus, kind of like when we get called by our middle name. I have a couple other names on the list with Kiowa in them it's just hard to pick the RIGHT one!
