    Default CH-Shamrock Acres Light Brigade!!!

Does anyone remember this Labrador Show Champion? 12 time Best in Show.

Back in 1990, when I first got involved in Labs, I owned a grandson of Briggs. I became very intrigued by the success of this dog, so I started doing some research on him. I had some very serious show people tell me that Briggs was the "greatest show champion Lab of all time". Could someone please post a pic of Briggs along side a pic of this years Westminster best of breed Lab bitch? I'm having issues getting the pics to load. Thanks

    David,

I watched CH Charisma's Lone Star Rick, also a grandson of Briggs, when he was showing in the 80's and took video of him during a show in either San Antonio or Corpus Christi. Rick exceeded his grandsire's record, going BIS 13 times. If you are interested, the video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9MY2798rt8

I was handler of show dogs when Light Brigade first started showing. And Yes he had all the great features of a true lab always
shown in working condition. In that day the judges liked a dog in working condition. The dog that won West Minister is no comparison
to Briggs. I have no pictures however.

    Thanks guys.
    Bruce,
What a great looking dog that Rick!!! Show labs looked a bit different back then.
I bought my first dog HRCH-Char-SH from Arovali kennels. He was a Briggs grandson that was great looking. Looked nothing like show Labs of today. He was a 90+Lb hunting machine. Looked a lot lot Rick. Just bigger. What a fantastic dog!!! I sure wish I would have finished his MH?

After looking at that dog, how can people be so hateful towards "bigger labs"? In my opinion, there is no dog more beautiful than a big, muscular, lean lab.

I don't think it's the "bigger" part that is the issue....
