    Default thoughts on these symptoms

My 12year old female has been having some symptoms creep up lately. She has been drinking bowls, and bowls of water everyday. Randomly begins hard core panting occasionaly. Has been having accidents in the house. Threw up a few times yesterday. And the newest issue is this 'rotten odor' in the past two days its so bad, we can smell it throughout the house. The smell is not her skin - she had a bath 5 days ago... From what i have read online, these symptoms could be the cause of anything from teeth issues, to glad issues, to kidney/liver problems.... She has had some arthristis issues over the last year and half (and we gave her cortizone shots for it). She is also about %98 percent deaf... Anyone have thoughts on what these symptoms could be? My thoughts are 'enough, is enough'... But my husband just cant seem to come to the same decision... His answer is that 'she seems ok, still eating, gets excited for cookies, etc'.... i just dont want something REALLY bad to happen to her when we are not around and she suffers... HELP!!!

Take her to the vet and get a professional opinion. She's very old and deserves that.

I agree with the others. Get a vet's opinion.

That said, it sounds like it could be some form of necropsy, possibly digestive. Essentially, this means that the dog is rotting from the inside out. Having been through that with a dog, my advice is this, don't. In my case, we saw the symptoms start much as you suggest. This was followed by increased digestive issues and incontinence. Things progressed slowly over several months until his body just gave up. In retrospect, I would have made the choice to put him out of his misery long before things got as bad as they did. My family all felt guilty and selfish not letting him go earlier.

Dr said she has elevated kidney levels... She is drinking a lot of water to combat that issue. And the smell is from a severe ear infection. Dr says she should be around for a while as long as kidney levels dont get too bad.. so pretty news today
