go check out a NAHRA Field Test in Baldwinsville, seeing as you are near. And then see if your above sentance is still true

NAHRA and AKC hunt tests. NAHRA because there's a great club nearby that has training days, where my dog got her first real experience at the hunt test game. AKC hunt tests because, well, they're the 800 pound gorilla. I'm a glutton for punishment, but I get my regular dose running obedience trials and lusting after that elusive OTCH. When OB no longer satisfies my need for canine humiliation, I'll try my hand at FT.

You know Ken .... I was thinking exactly the same thing! (Leatherstocking's NAHRA tests ..... June 6-8th and August 9th)

Baydog ..... as well as training for your land / water marks and blinds, just remember to also train for quarter, trail and sit to the flush as well!

I am FT person thru and thru both AKC & CKC, but with that said I have had a GMHR titled dog from the NARHA venue and another that became MH and I believe he received his MNH title. I enjoy training more than anything else and I want to take me and my buddy (s)to the highest level for each of us, I believe if you are going to do something do it to the max. Trials are the only way that I have seen that can reveal if the training has achieved the desired results. Running trials and accomplishing what I set out for us is the highest of highs, I have had more lows than highs. Judging and putting on trials is the entry fee for having the ability to run trials, I don't hate it but I don't love it either.

If they had, I would probably be trying the FT games.
I'm a 62 yr old guy, ran my first lab in my first junior hunt test just 5 years ago. Put a master title on her and now running only field trials with her and her son and loving every minute of it. It is never to late!!!

I've run both HRC and AKC, I have more fun at HRC tests so that's what I run.

I started out in AKC hunt tests, after my current dog earned her SH I started playing HRC in finished and decided to get the points needed for her HRCH and have started playing in Quals. I just like to play games with my dog. Heck since the winter has been so harsh in Missouri this year we have been getting ready to go into the obedience ring which we are doing 2 weekends of show this month. She love to work and I love to work her.
