I use nail polish on the coat. Left and right shoulder. Left and right hip. Upper back etc..

I don't use collars because I work and the pups do spend time unsupervised. I don't want anyone getting caught on each other's collar.

Maybe it would never happen, but I'm not willing to chance it. I was at home three years ago with a litter and mom stepped on one. I want to try and minimize accidents.

Different colors of nail polish is the way to go.

Ric-rac is available in a sewing goods store. It's a cloth "tape" that's cut is a zig-zag pattern and is used to tell puppies one from the other. <g>

It comes in about 20 colors and 3 widths. We use the medium width for boys and the tiny width for girls. We use it for about the first 2-3 weeks as the pups aren't too active yet. You can cut it to any length so it's good in that regard. Once they are more active, we use the pupcolors product. The reason I use ric rack is that as they grow, I can change it every day if need be and it won't cost $.25 per pup to use the whole package of one color.

Sue, I'm curious. What does mom stepping on pup have to do w/ collars? I've used the velcro colored collars for years and love them.
