    There was an attempt between 2004-2008 to outlaw knives over 2.5 inches and especially machetes. Unfortunately , it was due to a "wacky" State Senator from one of the "exclusive" Boston burbs. It failed as well as he lost his seat and moved out of state. Gov. Romney was guilty of many things in Mass(increased FEES -not taxes?) but this was not one. There is an over abundance of mentally challenged politicians (Dems and Reps) in state.
