In the last photo thread we had some discussion about the various attributes of DSLR cameras vs higher end Point and Shoots. I spent the morning Saturday in my wetland blind photographing Redheads (again) (I'm going to have more photos of redheads than Maureen O'Hara's personal photographer). I borrowed a Canon SX50HS to see what it could do. I didn't really get to shoot it as much as I would have liked and because of the way I was set up in my blind, I ended up shooting the P&S hand held using the LCD on the back of the body which is absolutely contrary to what I always advise. I am posting four images. Two from my DSLR (Canon 30D) with my 600mm F:4 canon lens. Two from the SX50HS. See what you think. Can you tell which is which? Would you be satisfied with all? (The SX50HS is around $430.00 new, the 600 F:4 is going to run around $5000.00-$6000.00 used, about $12,000.00 new for the current version, I think).
