When mine get that way, letting them out to find a polecat freshens them right up.

The smell helps keep the duck blind free of yuppies.

I had a Chessie once. She smelled and she bit me. The end.

    Right Dan?

I've known a couple of Labs that have that dog-oil smell, too.

    Get out your Furminator...
Zeus and Tiber had "The Smell" the new pup has none of that but the girls actually bathe her once a week so that's probably the difference. Plus she lives inside.

Especially when they have been in the same truck with Chessies. They don't eat the neighborhood children though, as a rule.

Might want to stop the weekly bathing. You are stripping her natural oils (not that Chessies lack those lol) and are going to dry out her coat and get into itching problems. Sorry, worked in a groom shop too long. lol

x2 Chessies bath themself, as needed. Like Wolves.

The novelty will wear off and that problem will fix itself!. The Chessie's definition of "as needed" and my wife's are vastly different.

Chessies are a great judge of character.
"The thing I admire about the rat tail is that it takes commitment. It's not like one day you just decide you want one, you have to grow out that bad boy and you have to repeatedly convince the hairdresser to trust you because it's a great idea."
