Default Supreme Court 5-4 versus Big Money

Heck I go out , do a little dog yard work , have lunch and come back to the 1st Amendment.

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 (Cons vs Libs) that restricting donations of $123,000 to federal candidates over a two year election cycle was a form of free speech under the 1st Amendment.
Spend with NO limits. Glenn Beck again.

The SC did not alter existing individual limits on individual candidates or individual political committees.

Let the big money roll , Addelson vs Soros , etc.. Everybody to the hog trough , what you buy you get ! Hell this isn't even capitalism, or as Franco says "crony capitalism.!

just as the founders intended. Those with the most money are the most free to speak.

Back in the 19th century, were there limits on donations to candidates? Have the rules & regs we have now really prevented big donations from being made by either libs or cons? Essentially, I guess what I'm saying is this decision going to really make any difference on the large spending that already takes place?

Most think it will help the GOP if a business has an agenda to push through. All it really does is allow any business to back a candidate that will support their business.

Should any business be allowed to buy elections ? The SC has spoken. Unless the makeup of the Court changes over the years money rules. Most of us have been aware of who is running this country. It's not the little guy.

like the old saying " ..he who pays the fiddler..calls the tune"...about the only way to limit campaign spending is to give them a cap limit and once you spend that you're done..Yes I know thats pie in the sky thinking

My understanding is that this is exactly what was struck down today.

Gerry I must politely request that you reread the foundation of America and realize that only the wealthy and select , elected the leadership of America. It started in the 18th century and continues to the 21st.

    You are 100% correct.

What country is this not the case? This history lesson will keep me up all night.

Once you give up the pretense of freedom and democracy it hurts a little less.
During break time at obedience school, two dogs were talking.
One said to the other..."The thing I hate about obedience school is you learn ALL this stuff you will never use in the real world."
