Default Why doesn't the HRC use Entry Express more?

I've noticed that all AKC entry is done through EE now, but HRC events (most of them) don't use EE. Why is that?

There is probably a simple answer, but I was just curious.

Probably the $4.50 per dog/day ($9 for a double finished/seasoned/started). That could be $1000+ dollars the club could use in some other fashion. A lot of HRC clubs are using Huntestsecretary.com. Their fees are $3 dog ($6 for Saturday/Sunday). Some clubs still like doing it the old fashioned way...mail in entries.

They don’t go to work in camo head to toe.

Entry-express is a service and not really applicable to an HRC test, you can use them but they aren't really in tune with the HRC style of things. HRC takes day of sign ups; entry express has to be negotiated around for that. Publishing results with entry express; does nothing for the club; the club still has to publish them with the UKC and the HRC (one more thing to do). Entry express sends you stickers to fill out all your paperwork; but you still have to put 3 sets of stickers on your entries for every dog (where-as you can write them in once). Hunt secretary is a tradition; it's ran by a lady very active in the HRC and the slips come already filled out ready to send into UKC. Many clubs do not have a terrible amount of entries and most club members choose not to sign-up online, so the added expense for online services isn't cost effective. Also most of the time that last week before the test; things change a lot with entry/judges etc. in a HRC test. Entries are usually limited to how many stakes a club will put on, and a hunt secretary is going to have to fill out a lot of paperwork anyway, so a lot of clubs just opt to handle everything themselves and not use an online service. So If you want to find out where HRC tests will be you need to check with the club, then UKC website (a test must be approved by them first), then HRC website (final approval); they are the only ones with the complete list.

Still there is a benefit of using Entry express, in that a club can finalize their test to take entries on their own, where-as you usually have to wait for HRC and hunt-test secretary to publish and open the test.

Thank you for the answer. That makes sense.

Wev'e been using them for the past 3 years, has worked fine for us no different than a AKC event, and this will be our last year allowing walkup entries of any kind, there's no reason for it, the extra entries that you gain aren't worth the PITA they create, hopefully other clubs will do he same..

    Amen to that!

BUT I thought the HRC REQUIRED you to take post entries (race horse terminology) at least in Started.

The clubs should have at least a day's notice...

We use EE. Never used hunttestsecretary. Different clubs use different entry services. There are 8 HRC test on EE now
