Our seven year old came down with severe pancreatitis last summer following an ongoing battle with lymes disease. Due to his health problems we were adding lots of fatty omega to his diet and that coupled with his other problems, resulted in the pancreatic problems.

Just like you describe, we thought we were going to lose him, diarea, vomiting, stopped eating and drinking. It all happened suddenly and in 24 hours he was down. Our vet, reacted quickly starting him on IV, antibiotic, anti nausea meds, et. Blood work told the story. We left him at a clinic overnight were the continued treatment and by the next morning he was looking much better. By the end of the day we were able to pick him up. Put him on a low fat diet, 9 percent fat or less, we are feeding him Honest Kitchen Zeal Dehydrated, with a spoonful of low fat cottage cheese and a spoonful of low fat plain yogurt. He loves this food, and he has turned into the wonderful high energy retriever that we used to have. It has been over six months and he seems just fine....

hope per you have the same luck.....

Just returned from Auburn. It does not look good. She regurgitated the second attempt at feeding through a tube in her nose. She is now being given nutrients through her leg. Not the same as food in the stomach. The vet said that they still have hope for a recovery. Not exactly what I wanted to hear.

She immediately realized we were there, and she attempted to go out the exam room door. After we got her settled, she just laid on the floor and moaned. It was so very hard to watch. They are trying everything they can. I am preparing for the worst.

Please pray for my sweet little girl.

She is my first retriever. I do not run hunt test, but I hunt with her a lot. I used to be an avid deer and turkey hunter. That is history. This little girl has changed my life.

I have spent more quality time with her over the last 4 years then all of my other pets combined over 40 years.

I miss hearing those claws on the hardwood floor when I open the door to come home.
