    Federal Grazing Fee

The Federal grazing fee, which applies to Federal lands in 16 Western states on public lands managed by the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service, is adjusted annually and is calculated by using a formula originally set by Congress in the Public Rangelands Improvement Act of 1978. Under this formula, as modified and extended by a presidential Executive Order issued in 1986, the grazing fee cannot fall below $1.35 per animal unit month (AUM); also, any fee increase or decrease cannot exceed 25 percent of the previous year’s level. (An AUM is the amount of forage needed to sustain one cow and her calf, one horse, or five sheep or goats for a month.) The grazing fee for 2014 is $1.35 per AUM, the same level as it was in 2013.

The Federal grazing fee is computed by using a 1966 base value of $1.23 per AUM for livestock grazing on public lands in Western states. The figure is then adjusted each year according to three factors – current private grazing land lease rates, beef cattle prices, and the cost of livestock production. In effect, the fee rises, falls, or stays the same based on market conditions, with livestock operators paying more when conditions are better and less when conditions have declined.

I have a quick and easy solution to this whole matter. Get several blackhawks and go in and shoot the dam cattle. Probably be finished in a day or two. Easy peasy and get the freeloader's cattle off public land, making a pretty clear point at the same time.

Only Harry Reid can answer that question.

The Bureau of Land Management, whose director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.

Deleted from BLM.gov but reposted for posterity by the Free Republic, the BLM document entitled “Cattle Trespass Impacts” directly states that Bundy’s cattle “impacts” solar development, more specifically the construction of “utility-scale solar power generation facilities” on “public lands.”

“Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of trespass cattle,” the document states.

Another BLM report entitled “Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone” (BLM Technical Note 444) reveals that Bundy’s land in question is within the “Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone and surrounding area” which is part of a broad U.S. Department of Energy program for “Solar Energy Development in Six Southwestern States” on land “managed” by BLM.

Or we could tear down your house and let his cattle graze on your property.

    Pure and simple.

    I'm not sure Eric

We have borrowing money from china for a long time. The tortoises were plentiful 20 yeras ago according to residents,,,now they say you hardly see one. I will agree that the Bundy's do owe something to the BLM. Nothing stays free forever. Nevada grazing is crap. So I head of cattle needs many many acres to sustain. many farmers and ranchers have lost their livelyhood here out west because some cry baby finds a small population of a snail or some kind of critter which by the wy is plentyfull most ever where else i,,,and the u.s.government takes their property.

I think we need to steal all the farmers property around here because the pheasant population is threatened by farming practices.

There is a pure evil behind all this crap

We will have to wit 8 or 10 years to see how this plays out .

You are comparing apples and and chevrolets.

In a "pure and simple" sense, the cattle already ARE grazing on my land in a matter of speaking. I don't get why ANYONE thinks that they can use the public land in anyway they choose even when they have lost court case after court case. Bundy has NO specific RIGHT to graze his cattle on that land. We the people, through the federal courts, (and I bet the majority of the populace would agree with the court's position) have told Bundy to pay up or GET OFF. HE OWES US! So now we are tired of his trespassing. Our patience is thin. We WANT HIM OFF. It's that simple.

The bank owns the bigger part of my house. If I quit paying my mortgage, the bank is going to come take my house. That is the deal I have with the bank. THAT's the analogy here, pure and simple.
