    Default experienced breeders ?

My girl is 6 weeks along and seems to be drinking WAY too much water this morning she drank so much that she threw up her food. I asked the vet about it last Friday, and she said it's probably just from being pregnant, but it seems to be getting worse. I have been taking it away in the house because she will just stand there and drink and drink and drink. Do I need to get another opinion from vet or is this normal ?

It sounds a bit abnormal. I guess I would have her in for a checkup and maybe check kidney function just to be sure. She may just be hot from the babies, but better to make sure.

    I agree,
doesnt sound normal. My girls drink a lot more when they are nursing but Ive not noticed anything excessive prior. Maybe your vet can pull some blood just to be sure.

Not a vet and not veterinary advice but excessive thirst can be a symptom of gestational diabetes - ask your vet about it - may need her blood glucose checked

I agree with CRNAret...asking your vet (or a secondary vet) about gestational diabetes is what I would be doing.

Good luck. I was so worried when my girl was expecting. Thankfully all went well and pups are almost 4 wks old.

Just got call with test results. White blood cell count at 21,700 white blood cells present in urine , no red cells.says with urinary tract infection there would be red cells in urine ??? concerned it might be PYO ? Wants to Xray but his machine is tore up , says to call on Monday. Already have call in to other vet to see what she says and hopefully get there today for xray. Now, I am trippin !
