I recently brought my puppy home from Oregon to KY. We had a connection, got delayed, and ended up having to spend the night in Atlanta. It's amazing how good a puppy can be! Like someone else said, buy some water for the puppy. We had to sit on the plane for about 7 hours with delays and she got hot. We also had a puppy pad which worked out great, I just put it down on the airplane bathroom floor and she went. I also lined her Sherpa bag with one in case she had an accident. After take off, I put the bag in my lap and stuck my hand in the bag and pet her. The flight attendant did say the bag had to be completely zipped though. Glad you're getting a towel with the mom and puppy scent, I did this with a stuffed animal and at almost 4 months, she hasn't torn it up and if I take it out of her crate she grabs it and brings it back to her crate.

Good luck! I've done this twice, and it's gone well both times and mine were a lot longer flights.
