Yes, same with me. This and Bon's link puts the day in the correct perspective.

Uncles served and gave much but not death. They just came home and hid the pain.

This may be off base but RK may have been suggesting a contribution to the HF program. Here is a example.

I saw an advertisement on TV this morning. It started out showing 3 brief film clips of veterans surprising their kids when returning home, the were really happy, heart wrenching clips......then I realized this was not a Memorial Day ad, but a GM ad for a program they have for financing new cars for vets.....!

I was disappointed and I will never consider another GM product in my life.....what right do they have to use our vets to sell their cars?

Disturbing bussiness practices anymore. I had not seen that ad.

Home Depot, Lowes, Anheuser Busch, Hooters............. all do similar things. Do you plan on boycotting all the companies that do the same?

Maybe I'm the oddball, but I don't see anything really wrong with that. They're honoring those who serve, and doing something to benefit them that they don't necessarily have to do ... and if any service personnel don't know about this special financing, it could be helpful for them to learn about it. Why not let people know that your company supports our armed forces, and puts their money where their mouth is?

I haven't seen the ad, so maybe the way it is presented could be a turn-off.
