Default Why did the US "really" invade Iraq?

Watched a documentary last night and people interviewed stated the same things. It was not about WMDs, rather it was about "OIL"?

    Your thoughts.

We never got much oil from Iraq after the UN embargo ended and before the war. Not much as in less than 5% of total imports. After the war, we imported less, and continue to import less, Iraqi oil than the 4 years before the war. Makes sense? Really?

There were clips showing the president telling Iraqis not to destroy oil fields. secret documents that got leaked of conversations with leaders of countries, including United States, with BP and other companies wanting to get into Iraq for the oil. Members of groups tasked with setting up operating plans in the region, mostly military retired people, telling of protect the oil at all costs. Important Iraqi govt offices left unprotected, yet oil fields were militarily guarded.

Most act as though they did not live during this time.....I will try and keep the details minimal and the story short....in case some of you forgot!

Iraq I....1988 Iraq invaded Kuwait killing and pillaging all the way....Kuwait was our Allie and provider of oil....we were obliged to defend them or our other allies in the mid-east would have been at risk and the oil was strategically of interest to us. In we went quickly destroying Iraq forces and liberating Kuwait. Bush I quit the killing early to stop the slaughter of the Iraq army. The Iraq army officially surrendered to us part of the terms was the 'no fly zone' and ' inspections for weapons of mass destruction'

Iraq II -Iraq continually avoided and stopped weapons inspectors in Iraq, creating world wife concern that they in fact had WMD's and were manufacturing more. Saddam also continually ignored the no fly zone threatening ours and allied air craft and the also attaching the 'Kurds' which was also part of the surrender agreement. G. W. Bush, after continually warning Iraq, working with leaders in the mid-east to try a pressure Saddam to cooperate, and getting a green light from the U. S. Senate ...we invaded Iraq.

Within two months the Liberal Press and Senate Democrats started to spin the facts and tried to turn these facts into something that the were not!

There are very few American oil companies with production leases in Iraq. China and Russian companies have the bulk of production contracts. If the war was about American oil companies, it was a complete....complete failure. If it was, I can't imagine that there wasn't bullet proof scheme in place to get American companies on those oil fields.

The 2 companies were BP and I can't recall the other one. Both are Britain companies and Britain being one of our allies, were right in the middle of the whole Oil thing. Blair, GW and Cheney were the key players, according to the documentary. It was said that GW and Cheney and Blair, knew there were no WMDs before going in, just needed an excuse to present to congress/senate to get approval to go in.
