Seems to go in cycles too...probably as folks that have the preference lose their older dogs.

The last two litters all males both blacks and chocolate were sold out well before the females. Chocolate female was the last to sell.

The upcoming litter now has more female deposits than I will likely get.

As stated before, folks always want what you don't have

I don't picture a lab as any other color but black. We have had black males pups always. IMO easier to care for than a female (heat cycle) and adorable pet companions. (Just like all the dogs in the world eh!) My 4yo has a cow lick! So cute! Can't understand why someone would want another color though?IMO

I always wondered if chocolate labs were called brown labs, would they be as popular. Marketing genius if you ask me.

Because people prefer to make it harder getting blue.

It's a well known fact that retrievers want to be labs & labs want to be yellow.

I perfer black and female but woruld change color before sex. I have had 3 BLF and now I'm the owner of a YLF. I can't stand the peeing on everyting in sight. Yes female have issues as well but that peeing thing is a pet peeve of mine. I had a set of American mag wheel on a old Chevy PU that got all pitted because of those #%&* male dogs.
    Just saying.

Put one more on this list for all the same reasons! I am not interested in color coordinating with my outfits. Labrador retrievers are BLACK! This also makes it possible to have the very best selection of pedigrees!
The one time we had an urge for brown, we got a Chessie!

    And oh yeah, all boys.

Many of the members in my group training have stated openly how yellows and chocolates are inferior to blacks. I just laugh and say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I haven't figured out why males take longer to sell than the females. It's just a matter of preference I guess or the misconception that females are easier to train than males.

I had a nice yellow male, now a 5 month old choco female... Thinking of looking into a started dog that can hunt this year... Another female would make living in my house easiest color I don't care about but it seems it's just easier to find well bred blacks... So Likely it will be a blf.

My reason for going from male to female was easy. I already had a FTCH bred beagle bitch and didn't want to deal with locking dogs away during heat cycles lol.
