Default What are you feeding your retriever?

I feed mine Royal Canin and they love it, but I am considering switching to something less expensive. What do yours eat?

There are countless threads about different foods here. I would just do a quick search. Personally, I feed PPP 30/20 and have been happy with it. Some will disagree with me.

Not me PPP is a great food. IMHO Many differing opinions however. Search, check and read for yourself. Cheaper is not always the way to go!

I'm sure this topic has been beat to hell and I'm very sorry if it's a little redundant! We have fed Royal Canin for a while and they seem to like it, but if there's a cheaper option that is just as healthy I would be interested in trying it for a while. We spend $150 per month on dog food (which probably seems like nothing to some of you) and it would be nice to find something a little bit less expensive. PPP is something I've considered, so I may just have to try it!

I've tried a bunch of different foods with my dog... Blue Buffalo, Pro Plan, Taste of the Wild, Nutro. BB and PP were not good for my dog... consistently loose stools all the time, but she had a great looking coat. TOW was pretty good but she couldn't put any weight on with it. Nutro was also pretty good... she put on the weight but her coat was dry and she had itchy skin. I finally switched to Dr. Tim's Pursuit and everything is perfect. Great coat, great stools, she's maintaining her weight, and best of all I'm now feeding LESS. I get it delivered to my door every 6 or 7 weeks from chewy.com.

Pro Pac 26/16 (chicken base), & sometimes Pro Plan and some you mention, but 99% of the last 20 yrs with 3-5 dogs at a time on Pro Pac. Good food, not expensive. (Only need more calories in hunting season, if then.)

I now have one dog who has loose stools on everything I've tried (except a $3.50/lb special diet he can't stay on). He gets massive amounts of metamucil and is about the same on Nutro, Pro Plan, Pro Pac. He looks and acts healthy, just poops!!!

Pro Plan Maint. My girl is too nuts to feed Perfornance. She just had a litter and her coat looks great and back in shape.
Pups are 11 wks now. I would not feed my dogs anything other than Pro Plan.
