Default OK!! A Different kinda Dog!!! (GDG)

    Independence Day is almost here!
The tradition food(At my house) is Hot Dogs grilled on lump charcoal.
The grill gets started early,, and snack dogs are enjoyed all day long, with grilled corn on the cob,, peppers, and sometimes pineapple.

Like I said,, snacks all day long, with a big tub of home made ice cream from an old fashioned Whit Mountain cooler (Hand crank)

    Heres the discussion:

I cannot for the life of me find good quality Hot Dogs to grill anymore. We have become to health concious, and have ruined the hotdog.

I dont want a turkey dog. I dont want an "All Beef" piece of shoe leather. I dont want a hot dog made from some Bean extract. I want a good hot dog to grill..

    Whats your favorite choice?
My favorite from long ago was Sigmans "Top Dog" Weiners. They were cheep supermarket dogs,, but man were they good. No Longer available...

It is far easier to spit on the work of others than it is to produce something better yourself.

I spend a lot of time and $$$ trying to eat healthy too. But NOT when it comes to hot dogs. I go for the Ball Park regular wieners. No "all beef" "reduced fat" etc. Love those things.

You ate 10 dogs!!!!! Those probably were not the healthy kind either.
Around here we eat Hillshire Farms Cheddar Wurst! Even share them with the dogs! They are not healthy mind you but darn good!

I know this won't help... But I get hotdogs made up every year from my butcher. Deer meat and good pork. They over flow the bun (after they are cooked) and if they shrink at all from being cooked I sure can tell. They don't have a venison taste and so long as you don't over cook them they stay plenty juicy.

At any rate, Id look at a butcher shop. They care about good meats... Not the "healthy" alternatives, additives, or substitutes.

You don't have any meat processors that make their own near you? I love the natural casing Weimmers brand myself, even though they are pricey.

I have never understood why you can have the best trained dogs in the world, but when you put two dogs together the act like they have a half a brain between the both of them.

Ah, the Tube Steak. Actually, I've given up on hot diggities and switched to good hot links if you can find them.

This also brings to mind the age old question: why are there more dogs in a package than buns? Or is it the other way around?
