There is a waiting period of 12 months on the following, unless you have your pet cleared by a vet (which I will do), then waiting period is waived.

    • Cruciate Ligament Injuries
    • Luxating Patellas
    • Portosystemic Shunts
    • Elbow Dysplasia
    • Hip Dysplasia
    • Osteochondritis Dissecans
    • Cardiovascular Defects

I haven't seen any positive or negative on Pest's Best so I will keep my fingers crossed.
That's not a bad price. Did you contact Trupanion? It is my understanding the waiting period is only 30 days for the above. I called today and got a quote of ~$45/month, $250 deductible.

if you are trying to suggest that Pet plan covers injuries that occurred during the course of performance, you are sorely WRONG. and you should not give people the impression either. It is irresponsible to suggest same. I have an email as to this from years ago. And I also just checked with Shane at pet plan to see if they have changed their position and they have not. If your dog injures their knee during the course of performance such as agility, hunt test or field trials, they WILL NOT cover that injury.

Of course, I believe that the policy language is vague, but very few of us have the ability to file an action for declaratory judgment against that company.

I can hardly wait till someone tells Pet Plan when their claim is denied, "well Ted on RTF said you would cover it."

I couldn't find anything in writing that stated injuries to working dogs are covered by any carrier other than Trupanion or Pets Best. I have Trupanion and have no financial worries if one of my dogs is injured.

Yes, trupanion was like $67 for a similar package. I had a free 30 day trial from them when I first got my pup and they were great.

Trupanion doesn't have the annual or lifetime caps like Pets Best. Thats the primary driver in cost difference.
