    Default Alaska dog training

A buddy and I just moved to anchorage, we both have a couple dogs. Any guys one here run dogs in the anchorage/Palmer area? Noticed there are a couple retriever clubs up here.

There are some good pros up there. Get with the clubs up there I know they have several active amateurs.

Might jump over to the Alaska Outdoor Forum, Dog Training section.
I have personal knowledge with The Alaska Working Retriever club.
Might check out the Alaska Waterfowl Association.
We train V -dogs but if your a retriever guy only you have plenty of choices in the Anchorage/Valley area.

I just got back yesterday from running the NAHRA Invitational up near Palmer. The Midnight Sun Gun Dog Association was the host club, and they have a bunch of good people and good dogs. As a matter of fact, the weekend before at the Fairbanks AKC test (including a double master) the only dogs with passes in both tests were NAHRA dogs, all of whom subsequently ran in the Invitational. They are mostly a hunt test club but some of them are doing FT's as well. We had plenty of good places to train, and it's a pretty small dog community up there so you should be able to get all kinds of referrals if you contact them. google the club and they have a list of officers with contact info.

What Larry said!!! LOL! We also ran the NAHRA Invitational and the Midnight Sun Gun Dog Association was great and has a great group of members! Had a wonderful time ... still are as we toured Denali today! It was definitely worth the drive to come up and run the event!!
