Thank you all for the kind words. Out of the two of us I think sometimes Maxx was the smart one and I was only along to take birds out of his mouth... His story has been shared on here (RTF) since 2001 when I was so excited about getting him until now. I am a better person because of the path we went down together from New York with the Polock ,to Ohio with Susan, to Arkansas with Dman.. and all points in between. I gained the most precious thing a man can have and that is good friends. Maxx got the thing he loved most and that was a DUCK, Pheasant or anything I told him to retrieve. He even one time retrieved a fawn without even a wet mark on it...The thing that stood out to me was the size of his heart..........big as Texas. He told me it was time to go yesterday when he would not pick up a bumper....he just looked at me and I KNEW.
My Dad said to me ."Son, a man just needs three things to be happy....A good dog, a good gun and a good wife.....Thank God I have all three

    Otey,
I'm so sorry to hear about Maxx. You are in my thoughts. Please ponder on all the great experiences you had with and because of Maxx. Those thoughts seem to make the pain a little easier.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
