    Default Garmin/TT Pro 550 reviews??

I just bought one any pros cons? I've heard some complaints about the 3/4" collar but I believe they stuck with the old tri tronics engineering and didn't re invent the wheel.

Even though the collar strap is 3/4", the new 550 has 4 loops to hold it where the old models only had 3. It will hold better than the 500 even with a smaller strap.

Got one and have had it for a couple of weeks now. I like it all in all. I prefer a wider collar with a D ring on it, but that are minor. As long as it last as long as the 2 XLS collars I have had for years, I will be happy.

my training partner recently bought one, he likes the electronics but is not happy with the 3/4 collar strap at all, they don't come with d loops anymore so after running your dog you need another collar to tie up your dog with. I question the durability of the strap, he has had it maybe a month and the hole to tighten collar is wide open and looks like its been through hell, where is old collar that he used for years barely looks worn. They also sent him 2 blue straps when he ordered 1 blue 1 black and 1 red, it was goin to take several weeks for them to fix their mistake they told him. Overall though he likes the system

Sounds like Mike Perry should take the hint and report his findings. I use a pro 100 currently and love it. But all I had to hear was 3/4 in. Strap and I will pass. I have used the 3/4 in. Before in dogtra units and hated them. I'm not going back.

Why ... What do you feel the problem is with the 3/4" strap?

I don't understand the comment about no d ring on the strap. My TT Pro 500 and Flyway did not come with straps that had d rings. I think my original TT 70, many years ago, had a d ring. To get a d ring strap you had to place a special order.
There was another recent thread with many more comments. I haven't mastered the copy and paste function on my new Kindle tablet yet.
I don't have any experience with 3/4" straps. I am hopeful that my 500 lasts many more years.

550 is significantly cheaper and has the built in laser light where it was an add on for the 500. Another feature is that it has a built in bark collar and that maybe something that is wanted by some. I believe the handheld is unchanged. I just bought a 500 so I kind of missed out on some of the new collar features but the nuts and bolts of the old and new are the same. If you already have a 500 I do not see anything that would make you go out and buy a new one. Plus, the new collars are probably backwards compatible with the handheld so if you want the new collar feature you can have them. The only thing that would be of interest to me is if the batteries are California compatible since the old ones were not.

Don't have a new Pro-550 but a solution to D-Ring problem.....maybe! I've even used them on my 1" collars. The rings can be found at most hardware stores.
