    Default Fat British plodders .....

It's the CLA Game Fair this weekend, three days of fun and frolics related to huntin' shootin' and fishin' plus equestrian sports, gardening, eatin' and drinkin'. We didn't attend this year but I had a shufti (for North American readers "shufti" = "butchers". Clear?) at the website and found this pic.

    Anyone for stereotypes?

hey.. those guys ribs are showing... feed those poor fellows.

Actually they look great... doesn't matter where a Labrador was born or resides, they look the best when kept at a healthy weight. Unlike our American show Labs seen at Specialty shows across our nation. Working condition is the way a Labrador should look.

Colonel. I think they are gorgeous. The question I have about the British lab community is, do your conformation people see beauty in classic porcine features the way the American conformation folks do? If so, do they look at your athletic dogs and rag you about rat tails, and "coke-bottle snouts" and "whippet leggedness" and such?

Now that is a fine looking bunch of Labradors! Wish I were at the Game Fair. Nobody does those better than you folks.

Maybe the real British folks should lobby Congress to ban the use of the term to reflect a derogatory misf representation of the term

    Colonel Blimp

One thing is obvious: Those dogs look like they are in hard working condition. Nice.

Colonel can probably answer this better than I but I don't see much of the rat tails, whippet legs, and coke bottle noses in the British working lines. The pictures that colonel posted represent a very large majority of the looks of working labs in the UK.
