    Default GM/Unions Back to Tennessee

27 August 2014 AP by Erik Schelzig "GM to move Cadillac SRX production to Tennessee"

A ceremony took place @ Spring Hill , TN (outside Nashville) to announce that GM will be moving Cadillac's production from Mexico to TN. This will mean about 1800 jobs as a part of a $350 million investment. A current engine facility located there will employ up to 350 w/an additional $185 million investment. These additions will add to the current 2,300 Spring Hill workers. These workers will be members of the UAW.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) attended. Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) did not attend.

The article goes on to state that Corker has continued his fight to keep unions out of TN and especially as a way of obtaining foreign automotive assembly plants.

Comment- lets see who lasts longer - Corker or the UAW?

The way GM has been making cars and trucks since they jumped in Bed with Obama, they may not last anywhere!

Yep Obama was engineering cars for GM now.
During break time at obedience school, two dogs were talking.
One said to the other..."The thing I hate about obedience school is you learn ALL this stuff you will never use in the real world."

Sound like this Corker guy, would rather have the jobs in Mexico because he has a boner for the union. That is one stupid dude right there. New name, kinda on the same lines as what others here use. Instead of "libtard" we can now say "retardican"

Shiny = you own all the copyrights in my book for "retardican!" Watch it the PC police will now come after you. How many of you have been watching ABC evening news where Douglas Muir has done over 3 years of 157 shows regarding "Made in America?" The GM move to TN from Mexico means more jobs for Americans. It is interesting that @ most FTs you see Fords and Chevy trucks while @ HTs you also see Toyota and Dodge. Social class. patriotism , income issues or what-- oh don't tell me better engineering because look at everybody's mass recalls.

Thank you. These people talk about creating jobs here, yet when a company wants to bring the jobs back home, they get their panties in a bunch because there will be union workers. What a bunch of, well, RETARDICANS!!!!

bob corker was a successful bidnessmn and mayor prior to being senator. the zillions he made privately and the success that chattanooga is today under his leadership would certainly dwarf the accomplishments of most high functioning retards of either party.

by not showing up he may be demonstrating that he feels no job is better than a union job. idk, but one must at least admire his stance on principal if this is the case!

He definitely has a stance on principles. Although I believe that the people that stand to gain employment with these jobs coming back from Mexico, may not appreciate his principles just because he is against unions.

Interesting that all the stories on it read like a press release from GM. Talks about how much GM is investing but not one word how much they got in tax incentives, kickbacks, etc. Good for the area, they deserved it after GM ruined the Saturn brand by turning it union.
