    Default Hunt Test Question

I have a dog with 2 jr passes. I'm wondering if i can double stake her and hopefully finish up her jr title and run sr in the same weekend.

In other words can she still run in jr on sunday if she gets a sr pass on saturday

nope once you pass a higher stake you cant run lower stake for leg Qs , not Saturday but you could do Sunday that way title Junior and get a Q in Senior

Yes. You can run a junior even after pup has its SH.
    From the rulebook: "
Dogs that have acquired a Senior Hunter title at an
AKC licensed or member Hunting Test are eligible to
    enter Junior Hunting Tests."

So maybe #2 is correct but thinking not!

Check the rule book but I believe you can double stake the jr and still enter and pass a senior.
The issue becomes once you title at a higher level ( say senior) you cannot go back to jr for qualifing legs

On another note : your asking pup to pick up a lot of birds in a weekend and unless your really really ready that could lead to some oh sh---ts

    Have fun enjoy your dog

Dave i expect dog to pick up more birds than that on a morning of hunting so i dont see a problem with the # of birds. But ive been wrong before

The rulebook isn't clear just checked to see what I could find. you can run any stake you want all day long but the progression of passes towards a title seems to be the question at hand and I had to look it up myself and my husband is a judge so asked him too. The belief is that once you pass a higher level ie senior you can go back and run junior but I do not think the legs count towards a junior title, same case as in Master...once you get a leg(pass) in Master you can go back and run senior all you want but I don't think any passes count towards that title.......still looking through the rulebook to see if anything proves that wrong.

I tried to find the answer online on AKC and the rule book on there doesn't have the paragraph that is in the last book I was given (Been a couple years) But does say in there,
"Dogs that have acquired a Qualifying Score in a Senior Hunting Test at an AKC-licensed or member Hunting test and have not completed the requirements for a Junior Hunter title are eligible to compete at the Junior Hunter level until the requirements for a Junior Hunter have been completed"

I then goes on to say in the next paragraph "A dog that has completed the requirements for a Senior Hunter at AKC-licensed or member events is no longer eligible to compete in the Junior Hunting Test level.

I agree that double staking Junior & Senior tests in a Weekend is asking a lot of the dog!

It can be done. A letter sent to all clubs as a supplement to the book stated dogs that have a sh title can enter jh stake. Same with mh. Both jh and sh can enter. For the benefit of elderly dogs or inexperienced handlers. This was at the nob 2011 akc bod meeting

Call AKC for exact info because I wouldn't bet money on anything I couldn't clarify in the rulebook.
