Thanks for posting about this event. I'm new to this dog world stuff and just found a 6 part series of the Iditarod on YouTube. You talk about incredible! 1000 miles wow. Will be following on internet to see how Dr.Tim does!

There is little snow in Anchorage, so the Iditarod starts in Fairbanks this year.
(A ceremonial start in Anchorage, then the head up the highway 360 miles to Fairbanks)
The race I watched they had check points where "they could stop" or go on through but then there was a few "Mandatory" check points where they had to rest for 8 hrs. Pretty cool set up. Dogs are unbelievably in shape.
Brent suffered a terrible concussion last year after falling asleep and hitting his head on an icy lake while running the dogs. He had to withdraw after he found himself unable to take care of the dogs or himself.
This year he wore a protective helmet....and he WINS!!!
