PennHIP vs OFA

Just curious how many of you Pennhip in addition to OFA. I've been thinking about when to do it(financially) but the kicker is that my vet isn't PennHip certified. The only clinic in town that does them is the one I used to work for and they are very expensive. I know I'll do the PennHip as I believe that its the right thing to do. Just wanted to pick your brains

I will do PennHIP at 4 months on all my future dogs to get a warm and fuzzy about their hips BEFORE sending them off for basics and pouring large sums of money into their training. I will then do OFA at 2 years of age for the generally accpeted hip ceritfication.

A PennHIP is easier to take than the emotional roller coaster of a bad set of OFA xrays at 2 and thinking your dog which you just poured your hard earned money into may not be genetically sound, only to find out the first Vet positioned your dog poorly and should be beat about the brow. Trust me, I know! Thank God for 2nd opinions!

I have been doing both for 15 years now. I truly believe that Pennhip is the way to go tho... it is not someones opinion..Its hard to understand how a dog at 15 mos is mildly dysplstic from OFA and at 2.5 years comes back from OFA a GOOD!!!!!!! (SAME ORTHO VET ) My hips have improved doing both. But to do all that we do is expensive!
