I am finishing up FF and starting pile work. Sometime my 1 year old YLM cigar holds the bumpers and sometimes he picks up two of them and brings them back.
I make him practice holding the correct way for 5 minutes twice a day, is the two bumper thing an issue?
I have a little Emmitt female pup that is so enthusiastic and fast at FTP that she also swoops up 2 at a time a lot of the time. Not always, but a lot. 5 - 6 feet between bumpers doesn't really make a difference, she is just fast. She isn't shopping the pile either, she gets there fast and has two in her mouth and is on the way back before I really have time to react. If it were a standing over the pile, shopping and picking up one, then shop a little more and grab another then I'd be correcting her. In her case I don't want to curb her enthusiasm. She is fun to watch and train. She really likes going to the pile and pleasing me.
Holding cigar style is not an issue, picking two up is a PITA if you are running multiple dogs on blinds and you either need to re bird because a dog picked 2 or worse, you don't see him get 2 and he drops one 1/2 way back so the next dog either finds a bumper 1/2 way or gets to pile and there is no bumper.
I have one that tries all the time to bring back as many as possible and drops them along the way in......PIA. It is my old HT dog and does this on long FT blinds. Sort of like hes sayin if your gonna make me go all the way out here, I'm bringing back all I can!
I see no big deal on either regard. A cigar hold is a hold, you could work to center the hold but not much an issue for me.
The 2 bumper return. More a fluke. Might try to put more space between bumpers on the pile and time your recall to get him picking up and coming back faster, before he has time to snach up a second one. Again, no big deal for me.

Cigar hold not a big deal, I have found that this corrects itself in time.
Two bummpers at a time is worse than shopping the pile and will only get worse with time. FTP is the time that one should address this habit, it is a FF issue.
I think the two at a time depends on the dog if it's an issue or not. In the dog I described above in post # 2 I would respectfully disagree with you that it's an issue. You haven't seen her run.
Spread the bumpers out in the pile and start calling him/her as soon as he/she picks one up.
