Mass. dog training laws- updated 3/26/07 link added

Well I hit the big time now. Wed Jan 31 @ 9:00 a.m. I meet with state senator Brewer to discuss Mass. dog training laws. If anyone has copies of Mass dog training laws,as well as dog training laws from other states I need to get my hands on them,also if you have any clips from gun laws,gamnebird laws etc. Especially neigboring states. Email them to me , post them here,pm me or snail mail them to me (pm me for my address). Senator Brewer is very sportsman friendly and I want to show up well prepared to make our case. After the meeting I would assume we all need to contact our respective senators and reps to start pushing the agenda. I;ll be compiling what I can but every bit helps. Once I have the meeting and get some direction I will be contacting other breed clubs in the area to tap the for assistance, this is not just about retrievers,we need everyones help.
Some points I will be addressing with the senator will be types of guns used, shoot to kill permits,bird use, as well as establishing state dog training, field trial, and hunt test areas, permits for WMA for dog training use, etc. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Jim Person

Good for you Jim! I live all the way over here in Kansas, but I will see what I can dig up...we have pretty sporstman friendly laws with reguards to this type of stuff.

Jim,

Do a search on the web for "Mass General Laws". Once you find them, the two sections you want to look at are Chapter 131, Section 20 and 21. Section 20 deals with FT's and 21 deals with dog training. 21 has the stipulation on the blank pistol. Those are the two statutory laws that are killing us.

If you need any other help, email or pm me. I've got DVD's of the HRC Grand. They might be helpfull as you try to describe to Brewer what a HRC test would look like, and why we need to train with something other then a blank pistol. They are yours to use if you need them.
