    Default Mismarked labs

I know that this has been discussed but I can't find it when I search...can anyone help?

Also, does anyone know which dogs threw pups with a little white on their feet or a blaze either on chest or elsewhere? I've heard of the term "salty paws" but am not familiar with labs that threw it other than "Bolo"...

    Thanks,
    Nancy

Nancy the little white spots in that hollow behind the foot is what I've heard called Bolo Spots.

I have a book, The Labrador Retriever - The History - The People - Revised by Richard Wolters, that shows pictures of the last two known Newfoundland Water Dogs. These dogs both carry a lot of white spots - chest, neck, front of feet, etc... This is thought to be one of the type of dogs that was taken to England to start the Labrador lines.
When it stops being fun, I will find something else to do with my time and money.

Bolo spots are thought to have been passed down from CH Banchory Bolo who had them.

Mary Roslin Williams also talks about white mismarks on black Labs in one of her books and has a phot. The Labs looked almost like inverse Dalmatians.

I personally don't consider the bolo spots to be mismarks..... they are so common in certain lines of field bred labradors....... and since they're not being bred for the bench.....

Very interesting............ I enjoyed looking at the link.

Am I right to assume this is a disqualification?

I am not breeding or thinking of breeding for a bench dog. ( I am however having my MH level male neutered because of bad hips. ) Isn't it wrong to register on of these guys?

Will this coloration trait be passed on?

Is this the picture you were referring to?
