Scratch Policy?
For those of you that have been involved in retriever games a long time - especially those that have been club and or event secretaries, what scratch policy do you like best? What scratch policy and fee do you think is fair to the entrants, yet still protects the club from being repeatedly shafted with last minute drop outs?

this is the one I typed up last time I was secretary and have used last few times I chaired. Never had an issue-
"Refunds
After the draw, refunds will be given only for death of handler or bitches in season, or illness, injury or death of Dog. Request for refunds must be made by handler in writing to the test secretary and be accompanied by a veterinarians certificate. Bitches in season are not permitted on test grounds."

Full refund for bitches in season, injuries, or illness when accompanied by a statement from a licensed veterinarian. All other scratches will be charged a $25 scratch fee. No refunds for no-shows.
Hey Ken, how many dead handlers have actually submitted written requests for refunds? LOL

I would think bitch in season or injury to dog with a vet certificate would be standard and all other cases are dealt with on individual basis.
