Is there something I need to down load so whatever these things are ( I believe they are pictures) will come through?

usually nothing you can do. It's normally because the link that should be showing the picture is not correct. The box with the red "x" is what your browser puts there to let you know something is supposed to be there, but it's not available.

If you're not seeing ANY pictures ANYWHERE then I believe there is a setting on some browsers where you can tell it to not download graphics (to save time if you're on a slow connection for example).

If you're only seeing it occasionally, it's because the link used to access the picture is incorrect...
