    Default The Sign

I sincerely believe that our wonderful dogs have a way to let us know when they're ready to go, Vicky
Sometimes you can be relieved to see that sign when you have been waiting for it. Maggie is 14 1/2 and I got that sign this morning. I heard some crashing and found her "stuck" in the bathroom behind the toilet. I knew she was failing and was waiting for the sign. Yesterday she played with the puppies (her favorite job), had a couple of real long outside outings, her tail wagged, we watched TV on the couch but she wouldn't eat-not even whipped cream. She is on the couch now and we will wait until the vet opens to release her. She still doesn't want me to wipe her nose. She had a good life and was unique for awhile-the only living QAA chocolate female and she took the 1st over the 2nd my QAA chocolate male at Fargo ran (she didn't cheat the last little piece of water). She also didn't like the last mark in a triple at a trial at WisAm and when I sent her she went off line and jumped in the van. She had a good long life and condolences and prayers not needed but instead a toast to a grand old dam that did it her way until the end.

Nancy I know you are going to miss her dearly - she sounds like a wonderful girl that has lived a full life(on her terms ) and will be leaving some fantastic memories behind. I know you will find comfort in those memories until you are all together again.

I know how hard it is to say good bye but I also know the sense of "relief" when you know the time is right. You'll be in my thoughts today.

May they all lead long, rich lives. A toast it will be for your good, old girl.

Oh, Nancy. I'm so sorry. I know all about the relief you're feeling but I know you're going to miss her so badly. But she was a blessed girl to have you for 14.5 years and blessed, too, that you love her enough to let her go.
    You're in my prayers.
    Take Care,
    Becky

Each day we have with our pets we should feel blessed. I learned about those signs this week. Boss and I send a toast your way!
