    Default FF Record

I was just wondering what the record for longest time to needed to finish force Fetch. The reason I'm asking is I think I can break it. Hard headed little SOB chocolate so and so, a little more of this and a I may sell him to the circus.
    Just venting regards

I'm on week 3, But I'm not sure I've been serious enough about it yet. We did have a session tonight that showed progress. I always have more trouble with my own dogs.

3 weeks is nothing. i've had a couple take 12-14 weeks. Each dog is different. hard to put a firm number on em. work with the dog and throw the calendar away...

    Mac,
I started back in the begining of Feb and still haven't finished. I am a Brit and it's my first time through so I am taking it slow and steady.

As an aside at what point is FF considered finished? After FTP?

I would say it is finished after it is transferred to the field and can be used there. Some people are careful not to use it in the field before it is reliable, and once it is reliable it takes a little transferance or proofing to use it in other places.

At a seminar I went to, the trainer described something he called "point fetch" which was basically really simple casting where you point at the object and say fetch. It was a little extra step I hadn't heard described before but I think it is probally a good one.

At 3 weeks you have a long, long way to go to break any records. I have a personal dog that took right at 3 months to go from the begining of hold to walking fetch. Had it been a client dog, I would have suggested not spending anymore money on him a long time ago. Since he is mine, I didnt care how long it took, I was going to get him through it.

That's a very interesting bit there. Why do you think that is? The emotional connection? Or do your personal dogs get put on the back burner due to client dogs or other commitments?

    /good luck!

OK, now that I've seen the other replies.... I'll admit I had one that took 12 weeks Fortunately, the next one needed ONE "hold" correction and ONE "fetch" correction, or I'd probably have hung up my hat.
