    Default Fixing to pull my hair out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dog has been ff'ed , will pick up ducks , doves , pheasants , etc ,,,, but won't pick up a damn goose - He will pick up a dokken goose dummy all day long , but ya throw a real goose in front of him and he want's to eat the damn thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This dog is gonna make me go crazy !!!!!! Have started to revisit ff , but it doesn't seem to matter any help would be apperciated

    How old is the goose you are trying to get him to pick up? My dog has retrieved hundreds of geese but isn't too intrested in one that have been laying around for awhile. Unless I really get on him he will do it but not like it. I am sure someone will have some suggestions on fixing it for you.

    I would try getting him moving with walking fetch. Can't eat it doing that.

    Tom, if you've got a good hunting spot, don't worry about your dog not picking up a goose. I'll bring my goose fetcher

    Try having him pick the goose up in the water. I really beleive the size of the bird throws alot of dogs for a loop. Mine have done better picking them up in the water first. Once they get the hang of it they transition well to land. This may be a fight you can avoid. Good luck.
