Have helped train, owned and sold, about 6 of his pups bred to a Radar Tank cross, three are titled (FC/AFC and/or) etc, etc. I have judged Prize when he was run by Mike and Sherwin, when he was called Chavez's little brother, then he won the National. Would take a pup bred to a solid bitch anytime! and would consider him as an excellent sire anywhere in a pedigree. Own two grandaughter's of his at present one out of Click and the other out of Chopper. Very tractable and excellent markers, as were the others before them.
I watched him at the Watopa trial many years ago and he impressed the heck out of me! He smacked the marks, handled the blinds great and line manners were OK. He looked like a hand full in the holding blind but Mike didn't seem worried. Prize was just trying to see the set up! He would jump like a pogo stick over the top of the blind and take a peak around the side of the blind. Mike would look down at him once in a while but seemed more interested in the dog runnning at the time.
I have a Prize daughter, dam was a MH bitch by Abe, hell on wheels is right. She's very good in the house though, solid as a rock in a blind, very focused, good marker. Doesn't break but ramps up and down at the line at HT. She had her SH when I got her, she'll run multiple marks just dandy, handling on blinds is an issue with me, I didn't have the experience to work with her when I first got her but last summer we made some changes and I saw some progress. Not a soft or sensitive bone in her body that's for sure and on the upper level for energy. Maybe by the time she's 10 or so, we'll have reached an understanding on blinds. I have a daughter of hers that is just a delight to train and have around.
I trained one for awhile. Super nice dog but was a little tough to teach to handle. Great marker. I'm with Angie I am training a couple of his granddaughters and I am even more impressed. Thanks, Chris
I have one of my female out of prize, hell on wheels is right, she is very smart and never seems to get tired thats for sure.I have een told she looks a lot like prize. There was a pic of Prize on Lardy's website
Marty Bullington's Prize grandson won the derby at Middle Tn. this weekend. A JAM and a win in two derbies, pretty good I would say... Katie's dad I love that picture. Very cool.
I have a Prize grandson. Lot's of bottom, really fun to train. Looks very similar to Katies Dad's pup. 9 months old, starting double T, simple handling was spot on, really quick to learn. Wants to please....but Hell on Wheels is pretty much right on.
