Anybody watching Kid Nation?

Wow, watching Kid Nation where the kids decide as a group to kill chickens to eat. Pretty impressive group of kids. I absolutely CANNOT believe they are showing this on network TV. But the kids are quite impressive. I liked the little girl who was trying to save them and then was willing to try to "overcome her fear" (even though she said she didn't, I thought it was pretty brave).

I know the show has been met with lots of controversy, but it's interesting to watch.

Great Show! I just wish the whole chicken butchering thing would of been the idea of the kids and not the script of the show. Now that would of made for some Must see TV.

the whole thing seems too scripted. i happened to walk in the room last night when it was on. they were building the water structures? the directors had the cameramen jerking the camera's around, zooming in and out to make the action seem more exciting. if you could see through that the action wasn't nearly as hectic as betrayed. they also dubbed in alot of screaming which got on my nerves and ultimately forced me to change channels.

That was for a competition -- not to build actual structures...

I would have to bet that most of the screaming -- at that point anyway -- was real, although I'm sure lots of stuff is scripted and dubbed.

Even if it is scripted, not sure if you saw the beginning or not, but the kids had to get their hands on chickens, apparently kill them, hold on to them dead off the chopping block, and while still jerking around, pluck them and clean the chicken for cooking. If it wasn't real (even if scripted) they did a REALLY good job making it look real. I was impressed with the kids where killing, cleaning and cooking the chicken came in.
