I'm sorry that fat is such a bad thing and viewed in such a negative light.
Well said!, and I agree
I've spent quite a bit of time coaching youth sports.
I've seen Kids in every shape, size and physical ability.
I've listened to the remarks comming from others like "4 eyes", "tubby", "slowpoke", "retard", ect! and watched the effects that they have on that particular kid!
There is nothing POSITIVE that comes from it! Most of the time it errodes that kids confidence level to the point they they dont want to participate (quit) ,or the activity becomes less than fun for them, all at the hands of someone else, that lacks the character to show RESPECT to another person!
Those behaviors and remarks were not allowed in my camp! If anything, RESPECT and teamwork were the foundation!
There was nothing more fullfilling for me, when I watched that Challenged kid work hard, and be encouraged and accepted by the others, not held down by name calling and disrespect. The look in that kids eyes after experiancing success and acceptence was amazing!
One Kid,, at 12 yrs old, overweight, lacking physical skills, intimidated to even try to compete, went on to be an all state left guard, and was awarded a perty nice in state scholorship!! Wonder what those kids that spent their time ridiculing and pokin fun are doin now???
Much like folks here wondering where that young lady learned that killing the chickens was mean or wrong in some way,,, I wonder where Kids learn disrespect, and develope lack of Character?? I for one know first hand where they learn it,, cause I met the folks that dropped em off at the ball park each day,, and let me tell ya , they were a lot more difficult to work with than the kid!
Sometimes a good close look in the mirror does us all good!
